Colorado Maternity Photos in Rocky Mountain National Park

There’s no more spectacular spot in Colorado for maternity photos than Rocky Mountain National Park! This is a wonderful place to capture this milestone because you can get so many incredibly scenic photos, without having to hike or drive far!

Recently, I had the joy of photographing a sweet couple here as they awaited the arrival of their little one. The soft mountain light and their quiet excitement made the entire session feel unforgettable. It was an especially fitting location for them because they tied the knot in Glacier National Park, so yeah, national parks are definitely their thing.

Whether you are visiting Estes Park for a babymoon or you live nearby and want to capture this chapter in the mountains, RMNP offers an incredible variety of easy-to-access locations that are perfect for maternity photos.

Best Locations for Maternity Photos in Rocky Mountain National Park

Open Meadows with Mountain Views

Lower elevations are often the most comfortable choice for expecting parents, especially if you want to keep walking to a minimum while still enjoying the park’s beauty. Consider these spots:

  • Moraine Park – Expansive mountain views and, in the fall, the chance to see elk in the distance.
  • Upper Beaver Meadows – A peaceful spot that gets beautiful soft light in the evening.
  • Endovalley – A tucked-away location with streams, shaded trees, and a quiet atmosphere.

Lakes with Easy Access

If you love the idea of a lake backdrop, RMNP has several options that require little walking from the parking lot.

  • Lily Lake – Flat loop trail with striking views of Longs Peak.
  • Sprague Lake – Gorgeous reflections at sunrise and a wide, easy path.
  • Bear Lake – Iconic views year-round, especially stunning in autumn when the aspens turn golden.

Tip: Bear Lake and some other popular areas may require a timed-entry reservation during peak season, so always check the RMNP website (and with your photographer!) before your session.

Endovalley Maternity Photos

These photos were taken in Endovalley. This is one of my favorite spots to visit in RMNP and take photos where there aren’t tons of crowds! You get a mix of streams, forests, meadows and mountain views. And if you’re lucky, some wildlife too! It’s especially beautiful back here during the fall time when the leaves are changing colors.
