Brian & Ernie have a lot of special memories in Southwest Colorado, so it was fitting that they return in September for an off-road wedding with their closest family and friends.
September in Colorado is incredibly beautiful and great for peeping fall foliage. The aspen trees turn a golden color, and it is stunning contrast against the dense pine forests and red mountains of the San Juans.
Their wedding day began slowly at a cabin in downtown Ouray, Colorado. They spent the morning together getting ready for their day, putting on black tuxedos and thoughtful details like their handmade Brackish bowties. Before getting together with their family, they decided to have some alone time. Because it was an off-road wedding, they hopped in their rented UTV and began to zip around the mountain roads.
In Colorado, you can self-solemnize. That means you are not required to have a witness or an officiant for your wedding ceremony. You can literally marry yourself! Because of this, Brian & Ernie had kept their officiant a secret for months. Family suspected that a friend would be flying in. Little did they know, they would all be the ones marrying the couple. Upon arriving by off-road vehicle to their wedding ceremony site, Brian & Ernie handed out their ceremony script. Each family member had a paragraph to read, and at the end of the wedding ceremony, everyone declared Brian & Ernie husband and husband in unison!
Everyone rode back down the mountain in their off-roading vehicles and went to town in Ouray for dinner and celebrations! It was a memorable day, full all of their favorite things. Just as a wedding day should be.
