Crested Butte is an absolute favorite Colorado mountain towns for wedding photography because of just how stunning the location is.
Summers are known for their wildflowers, some of the best I’ve witnessed in the entire state! They also have huge aspen groves, and many scenic hikes + drives. It’s also a mountain town with year-round outdoor fun, and it’s especially great for any outdoor loving couple.
This couple enjoyed a full day there! From a sunrise start and exploring the mountains just the two of them through meeting up with family in the National Forest for a small wedding ceremony, to celebrations back at their Airbnb with a private chef! This day had it all.
And the best part? We created a laid-back timeline for them, so they never felt rushed. Instead, they were truly able to savor their time in the outdoors together, go where the wind took them (and be a little spontaneous about it too!).
It was a mid-August day, perfect temperatures, wildflowers and stunning views. Take a peek!
Fun fact: the bride purchased her dress second hands just 2 weeks (!!!) before this day.
Bold. Move.
But it certainly paid off. 😉
When Mother Nature shows off like she does, you better believe we’re going to take full advantage! We wandered the trails surrounding this lake to capture all of the wildflower magic!
What I loved so much about their day, is as we explored, they would take time to linger and read a few more letters from family and friends back home. This is an excellent way to include important people in your day, without them physically being there.
Not only that, but they stopped to dip their feet in the water, take a trail just for the heck of it, and truly just enjoy the experience of being in a breathtaking location on their micro wedding day.
And this is how core memories are made.
Note: sharing laughs and champagne in an aspen grove is the most perfect activity right before meeting up with your people for a ceremony.
Before long, we met up with family at a lovely spot on National Forest. They shared an intimate wedding ceremony here, surrounded by grazing cows (a favorite kind of wedding crasher). After the ceremony everyone walked down to the water together, took off their shoes, and waded in.
Then it was off to Secret Stash for a quick beer and margarita! Because, well… why not?
One of the biggest perks of having a micro wedding and a laid-back wedding timeline is having the room for spontaneity!
Back at the Airbnb, the chefs were preparing a beautiful spread for family to return to! So after sipping on some “big ass margaritas”, we returned to their lodging where this beautiful scene awaited. Family gathered around, shared toasts, and enjoyed a meal on the patio, reminiscing over what an adventure the day had been.
