When M reached out about planning a surprise proposal in Estes Park and mentioned horseback riding, I immediately knew the perfect spot.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with Elkhorn Stables multiple times—for personal rides, wedding portraits, and even proposals. They are amazing at helping couples pull off something truly special, and this was no exception.
So, this was the plan. I hiked to a pre-determined spot about three-quarters of the way into their private ride. When M & K arrived, their wrangler had them dismount. We had a “code word” planned, and as soon as it was said, I stepped out from my hiding spot, camera ready, to capture the moment M dropped to one knee.
And then—the most magical twist. Mid-proposal, thick snowflakes started falling. The kind of picture-perfect flakes that made us feel like we were standing in a snow globe.
Instant goosebumps.
