Here are my favorite Estes Park proposal spots in town!

• Estes Park River Walk. If you’re envisioning a downtown proposal, the river walk lining the downtown shops would make for a great spot! Grab a favorite drink, and take a stroll along the shops until you find the perfect window of opportunity.
• Knoll Willows Open Space. Overlooking downtown with sweeping mountain views is this wonderful
• Lake Estes. Wander, bike, or boat around Lake Estes and find the perfect spot with mountain views to ask the question! I find the area where the river meets the lake near Fisherman’s Nook especially scenic. Afterward, celebrate with drinks + snacks at Ember Restaurant overlooking your engagement spot.
• Mary’s Lake. A quieter lake near a campground that offers mountain views, and is a great picnic spot too.
• Prospect Mountain. Take the aerial tram up to the top of Prospect Mountain and pop the question with a view overlooking Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park.
• A Secluded Cabin! Another great (and very private) option is to find a cozy Airbnb or cabin to use as your Estes Park proposal location. You can escape the crowds and enjoy a romantic, intimate setting. Plus, choosing a place you love can make it even more special when you return there for future anniversaries.

Rocky Mountain National Park Marriage Proposal Locations

But first, a few important considerations for a marriage proposal in Rocky Mountain National Park (RMNP):

• Timed Entry. Between May and October, there is a timed entry pass required for the entrance to RMNP during certain hours. Research entrance fees and timed entry requirements before you visit here. And remember, as your photographer, I can help you with this!
• Crowds. As with any National Park and popular outdoor destination, take crowds into consideration when planning your proposal. Are you ok with
• Leave No Trace. As with all visits to natural spaces, it’s important that you follow the rules including remaining on designated trails, leave no trash behind, leave nature as you found it. For a little refresher, brush up on the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace here.

Iconic Proposal Spots in Rocky Mountain National Park

• Dream Lake. An iconic hike in Rocky Mountain National Park that’s about 2 miles roundtrip. Along the way you’ll pass beautiful rocky overlooks, multiple lakes, and have incredible forest views too! I highly recommend this location at sunrise. Check out this Dream Lake fly fishing proposal!
• Emerald Lake. Just beyond Dream Lake is another stunning lake, Emerald Lake. Between the two you’ll find cascading waterfalls, and many lovely views. These two locations can get quite busy! So it’s smart to plan ahead and have a few spots in mind for the proposal if you’re looking for a more private experience.
• Sprague Lake. You might even get lucky with a wildlife sighting here! Sprague Lake offers an easy flat trail around the lake. On the far side is a lovely dock with amazing lake and mountain views. This is a popular site for wedding ceremonies as well.
• Lily Lake. Similar to Sprague Lake, Lily Lake offers a flat dirt rail around the perimeter with views of Longs Peak, unique rock formations, aspen groves, and tree-covered mountains. This is actually another wedding ceremony location in RMNP, and another good spot to find wildlife as well.
• Trail Ridge Road. Drive to the top of this high alpine road for those top-of-the-mountain feels when you ask the question! Picture 360 degree mountain views from above tree line. This road is typically open late Spring through early Fall, conditions permitting. Plan for wind and cooler temperatures up this high!
• Upper Beaver Meadows. Wide open meadow space with views of Longs Peak and surrounding mountains! There are hiking trails here, and even a little picnic area with a view!

Estes Park Proposal Spots During the Winter Holiday Season

Ready for your marriage proposal to feel like it’s straight out of a Hallmark movie? During the winter holiday season, downtown Estes Park transforms into (something here). The streets are lined with sparkling lights, and there are numerous festivities to partake in! Here are some magical spots to pop the question during the holiday season.

• Bond Park. Located in the center of downtown, this park is completely decked out during the holidays including a white brightly lit dome and a 30 ft. LED Christmas tree and more.
• Elkhorn Ave. The main drag in town is lined with holiday lights and romantically decorated downtown shops.
• River Walk. A little quieter than the main street, the riverwalk is paved path that follows the river behind the downtown shops. There are even a few spots where you can get down to the water!
