The locations Courtney & Mitchell chose for their June Colorado elopement day offered the best of both worlds, privacy for their vows, picnic and portraits, yet still incredibly scenic. And because elopement days tend to have a certain kind of magic to them, we lucked out with perfectly timed wildflowers.
The meeting spot for this elopement day was in a forested area in the mountains. After changing into their wedding attire in the forest along the stream, they shared a first look on the water’s edge. First looks are always so exciting because they help melt away any anxiousness and make it all feel real (if it hasn’t already). Time to wander the forest. The forest in this part of Colorado is filled with lodge pole pines, bright yellow wildflowers, and winding streams. It’s incredibly peaceful and scenic.
After awhile, it was time to take off for their second location. The spot where they would say their elopement vows, where we didn’t see another soul. We hiked just a few minutes in to find this incredible meadow. It’s filled to the brim with wildflowers, and incredible views of a 13,000+ foot mountain in the distance.
As the sun went down they shared vows, a picnic, and champagne. When the moment felt right, they spontaneously enjoyed a first dance on the trail. One of my favorite things about elopement days is that there are no rules. You get to create your own experience, on your own schedule. The cherry on top was watching the sky fill with color at sunset.
The whole day was laid-back, intimate, and just so them. It was the perfect June Colorado elopement day.
