Palmyra Lookout is one of Telluride’s newest outdoor wedding venues! Not only does it offer breathtaking views, but it’s more secluded than the other popular wedding deck, San Sophia Overlook. When these two saw the location, they were immediately sold! They could easily picture having a wedding ceremony there, surrounded by their closest people. But where would they celebrate?
That’s where Telluride Presents came in! Kathleen is a wonderful local wedding planner who connected them with this incredible Airbnb which would become the home base for their wedding celebrations. So, obviously, it’s where we started the day capturing some candid wedding photos of the pre-wedding excitement!
And I mean, look at those views…
Palmyra Lookout is accessible by the free Telluride gondola and private shuttle up the mountain to the remote ceremony location. Since there is no summer lift to the exact location, so you’re unlikely to see the foot traffic from the public like you would at San Sophia. (Though I highly recommend that beautiful ceremony site as well!)
Palmyra Lookout has a yurt for getting ready, as well as a covered space at the Bon Vivant structure. These spaces are great for shade, last-minute touch ups before walking down the aisle, and a on day like this––rain coverage!
On that note. Ready to hear some wedding day magic?
There was rain forecasted for the day, and it held out until just after the wedding ceremony when the skies opened up! Kathleen was prepared with umbrellas and everyone took cover at Bon Vivant until the storm passed and we rode back down the mountain. The timing couldn’t have been better! A good reminder that things you worry about on your wedding day, typically work out just fine.
Even if you’re celebrating with all your favorite people, you might still want a more private space to share your personal vows.
After the ceremony, we slipped away to a secluded lake and wildflower meadow, giving them a quiet moment just for each other. Away from the excitement, they read their vows in a place that felt completely their own.
These slow, intimate moments often become the most treasured parts of a wedding day. A time when all pressure is truly off.
Meanwhile, back at the Airbnb, the space was transforming into a cozy indoor reception. After a relaxed entrance, the family gathered around for an incredible meal. They followed the meal with heartfelt toasts, dancing, and, of course, cake. I love how they wove in elements of a traditional wedding while still making the day completely their own.
Thanks to this brilliant team for making this micro wedding a smooth and wonderful experience for everyone!
