There’s something so wonderful about a small destination wedding with your favorite people, especially in Colorado.
It’s the feeling of being able tap into vacation mode and enjoy the crisp mountain air. It’s certainly in sharing all that quality time together, too. Savoring the quiet moments on the porch enjoying that view, and the hysterical laughs when someone brings up the epic Jeep ride up the rocky mountain.
And it’s especially in knowing that you just got to marry your best friend surrounded by your favorite people in the world.
Intimate weddings like this are how core memories are made.
Ouray, Colorado is known for incredible off-roading, and is a very popular destination for elopements and intimate weddings via Jeep. It’s one of my favorite wedding destinations between mid-June and early October when the snow has thawed and made most trails accessible.
Hiring a professional driver, or renting Jeeps to self-drive, is a perfect way to get your loved ones to remote locations to share a small and intimate wedding ceremony with you. It’s also an incredibly unique + memorable method for transporting guests.
This couple started their morning just the two of them, taking off with a Jeep ride up to a basin covered in wildflowers and waterfalls. It’s hard to believe some of the natural colors up here until you see it in person. The rocks and fauna are mesmerizing. Not to mention, the unbelievable colors of the alpine lakes!
The aisle, if you will, was a surprisingly long and rugged 4×4 road near Ouray, Colorado. The family caravanned up in Jeeps, enjoying the epic mountain views and otherworldly scenery of the San Juan Mountains. Once at the top, we felt like we were the only ones for miles and miles up there at their wedding ceremony site. And you know what? There’s a great chance we were.
While we were out having the times of our lives in the mountains, the vendor team back at the couple’s lodging was putting together the most magical scene to welcome us back.
Out on the sunny patio overlooking the mountains was a beautifully styled tablescape. As everyone gathered around, sharing stories from the earlier adventure, they were fed the most delicious meal by Farm to Fingers Grazing.
Best post-adventure meal, ever.
