San Sophia Overlook in Telluride, Colorado is one of the most scenic locations for a wedding ceremony. The overlook rests at the top of Lift 7. It’s a wooden platform with incredible mountain views and is especially perfect for a micro wedding!
Just imagine taking a gondola up over a beautiful mountain town. You’re gliding up over Mountain Village with mountain views in every direction. After stepping out of the gondola, you walk out to a beautiful platform high on the mountain where you get to marry your best friend. That’s an experience you’re never going to forget.
But here’s where this wedding story began.
It was in the early morning hours that we drove up a dirt road outside of Telluride, Colorado. I love the pre-hike feeling when you get to the trailhead. Throwing on your backpack, closing up the car, and taking off into the wilderness for a bit. The excitement and anticipation of your adventure.
Well, on this day the excitement was extra high. Because today was Marcus & Sarah’s wedding day. They wanted to start it off in the best way they knew how. Outside, doing what they love.
We arrived at our destination, a beautiful alpine lake, just as the sun rose. We watched as the sunlight slowly moved down the ridge illuminating jagged corners of the mountain. It was captivating. As the sun rose higher in the sky, S & M exchanged private wedding vows.
After a morning of adventure, it was time to meet up with family and friends for the wedding ceremony at San Sophia.
Look at this view, ya’ll.
Then off to La Piazza del Villaggio for the small wedding reception! Here everyone enjoyed a cocktail hour in Mountain Village under the sun before heading to a small wine cellar for a shared meal. The perfect (and delicious) ending to a well-balanced wedding day.
