Planning a wedding at Garden of the Gods can certainly feel a little overwhelming. You want to make sure you find the best ceremony spot for you, avoid the crowds, and time it all correctly… I totally get it. The good news? I’m here to help you with:
This particular Garden of the Gods wedding took place early in the morning. The only people there to witness it were couple’s immediate family, two friends, and a few deer. It was unforgettable.
Garden of the Gods is arguably one of the most unique and scenic locations in the Colorado Front Range. The contrast of the towering red rock formations, with the green plant life, and blue mountain peaks in the distance. For many visitors, it’s unlike any destination they have ever seen before! That’s why it’s on so many must-see lists for people visiting the state, and a highly desirable wedding location too!
I’ll never forget pulling up to High Point, the chosen wedding ceremony site on this Summer morning. The moon was huge, hovering just above the mountains to the West. Meanwhile, the sun began to paint a colorful sky to the East. It was a sign. Today was going to be a good day.
First and foremost, it is entirely free to have a Garden of the Gods wedding! There is no entrance fee and no wedding permit required. Can you believe that? Scenery like this, and it doesn’t cost a thing.
That being said, it is a popular destination in Colorado. Because of the easy accessibility and amazing views, Garden of the Gods can get very crowded. If you’re hoping for total seclusion, this may not be the wedding ceremony site for you. If you’re willing to give it a shot, I highly recommend a sunrise ceremony. Then you can head out for couples portraits afterwards. It’s a little easier to find seclusion and avoid people when it’s just the two of you.
I definitely recommend finding a photographer who is familiar with the park! That way you’ll have a guide to show you their secret locations.
After the family ceremony, this couple spent some time walking through the park and exploring just the two of them. We found this beautiful spot where they sat and read private vows to each other. We had this area completely to ourselves!
One thing I love about micro weddings is that it doesn’t have to be performative. Even if you’re having a ceremony with people, you can always exchange vows or letters in private. Use this opportunity to create a special moment with just you and your partner! A time where there’s no pressure and you can speak freely to one another. These were some of my personal favorite moments on our wedding day.
