Lily Lake Proposal in Rocky Mountain National Park

There’s nothing quite like the magic of a Rocky Mountain National Park proposal, especially when it takes place at Lily Lake. This spot has certainly it all: mountain views, a sparkling lake, and trails that make it easy to get gorgeous photos without a long trek. It’s absolutely one of my favorite places for an Estes Park surprise proposal (oh, and wedding too!).

For this couple, the proposal happened at sunset on the Lily Ridge trail. This short hike overlooks Lily Lake while framing you with stunning mountain views. And the best part of all of this? She had no idea it was coming!

After the big “yes,” we then wandered along the ridge trail for engagement photos. Since the hike is short and manageable, they were able to dress up in outfits that matched their dinner plans right after, no hiking boots required.

This is one of my favorite tips for proposals. Want to look dressed up in the outdoors without tipping off your partner? Suggest an easy nature walk or visiting a wildlife spotting area before a dining reservation. That way you’ll be naturally looking fresh, while still out in the beautiful wilderness for the big moment.

Lily Lake is perfect for something like this because the main loop trail is flat and scenic, while the ridge hike gives you those epic mountain views without being long or strenuous.

And remember, after the proposal moment, you can then celebrate the we-just-got-engaged excitement with some engagement photos like these two did.
