The best way I can describe this Canyonlands National Park elopement day?
It felt like play.
All day long.
The couple was free to explore, hike, climb on rocks, and see all sorts of perspectives… to feel like kids again. No other worries in the world.
And ya know what? A day like that leaves a mark on ya.
Here’s a peek into this real Canyonlands National Park elopement day that actually began at neighboring national park, Arches!
Because what’s better than one national park on your wedding day?! TWO national parks.

There aren’t many places where you can see two national parks within a 30 minute drive from one another! So on this day, we began at Arches National Park. A place where they could see some arches (of course), climb on some rocks, run through the sand and have a whole different perspective than they would for their sunset elopement ceremony.
Arches also makes for the perfect location to share a little elopement day picnic. Cake with Lego toppers and all! 🙂

Curious which Utah National Park fits your wedding vibe? Here’s a quick comparison.
| Arches National Park | Canyonlands National Park |
| $185 wedding permit fee | $185 wedding permit fee |
| Best for couples who want to feel like they’re inside the landscape, play on rocks, and well.. see a lot of arches | Best for couples envisioning cliffside hikes and lookout points and sweeping desert horizons |
| Can get very busy, so sunrise ceremonies make for the quietest experience | Not quiet as busy as Arches, and can usually have a low-key experience at sunrise or sunset |
| Can accommodate groups of up to 80 people | Can accommodate groups of up to 50 people |

And if you love these two locations, you might also love the nearby Dead Horse Point State Park!

After the picnic and exploration in Arches National Park, it was time to drive up to their wedding ceremony site in Canyonlands. The drive between Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park is about 30 minutes with no traffic, which is why they’re such perfect locations to pair together!
This couple had their wedding permit for Grand View Point, a favorite spot for sure!
And can we talk about this beautiful sunset? A glowing red setting sun with the red desert landscape is hard to beat.
These two found the perfect spot on the edge of the cliff, and with no one else around, they read their vows and said “I do”.
Epic.
